Over two-thirds of Shenzhen’s population work in electronics, whether as an engineer, an entrepreneur, or a factory worker. At the center of the city is Hua Qiang Bei, a district known for its massive electronics markets. It is also the epicenter of the Shanzhai phone industry, an omnipresent network that makes and sells knockoff and imitation electronic goods.
